Anybody else have to long press Play/Pause to resume playback

Hi everyone. I have an annoying issue that I can't seem to wrap my head around. The Siri remote has a play/pause button. When I press it, the video that is playing stops immediately. However, if I press it again, the video does not resume. I have to press and hold the play/pause button to resume playback. Pressing down on the remote touchpad on the other hand both pauses and resumes instantaneously.

Please advise if I'm going crazy or whether my device may be having a problem.

I should be clear, I'm using the newest Apple TV 4, with the Siri remote.
