is there any way to connect my external hdd to my iphone 6s ?
what i want to achieve is to be able to view the videos and photos stored in my hdd on my iphone 6s.
is that even possible?

There are several third party adapters being sold that can make this possible. They make your HDD a wired/wireless NAS share which can then be accessed from your iPhone using one of many third party apps to play your videos and photos.
