Any ideas why my iPhone won't sound when I receive a text or a call?

My phone won't make a noise when I receive a text, or when I get a call. Every other sound works, music plays, ringtones play, etc. So I'm assuming it's nothing with the hardware, I just can't get it to ring or notify me of a text. Any ideas?

Check the notification settings for messages. It might be turned off.

If it the setting is turned on, turn it off iMessage that is and reboot the device. Turn iMessage back on and see if that does the trick for you.
