Anti virus for MacBook Pro

I would caution against Avast. They do some other tricks with web certs that caused me concern. Do a search on twit.tv for avast as well as The Tech Guy to get more details on the issue.

I don't have an active anti-virus app, I prefer to run a scan manually.

I called apple support today and they said it's up to me if I wanted to install the anti virus. Even if it's on both sides of the MacBook it wouldn't slow it down. That said, I'm just going to leave off the mac side and keep it on the windows side only.

Sorry it took so long to get back.

To be honest: I'm using my mac for four years now, and never ran an anti virus program.
But I only recommend this for "experienced" users, who know exactly what they're doing online, and know what they're allowed to install.
If you're not so sure and don't want to spend money, go for avira antivirus
