I just tried it on my iPhone and I didn't have to unlock it. I was able to take a note and save it without unlocking.

Yep. I took my daughter at her word and didn’t double check; this time I covered the entire notch to try it and worked like a charm. I was able to make regular notes, photograph and markup documents, make lists, the whole nine yards.

Many in the thread falsely stated that the iPhone needs a stylus using the s22 ultra as an example

Sadly the numbers are finally in and the s22 ultra is officially a flop, unable to sell 5 million units in its first three months. Demand fell off a cliff.

In fact it would seem as though Samsung mobile as a whole is cutting back on shipments for the remainder of the year.

Indeed, the Apple Pencil doesn’t even work with the iPhone. If it needed one wouldn’t Apple have made sure that wasn’t an issue?

Quite right.

As you can see from sales data, consumers don’t particularly care for a stylus driven smartphone experience in 2022, apart from what is now a completely tiny and shrinking niche market.

4 million units, that’s approaching bb10 and Sony mobile numbers.

I believe that Samsung devices decline in sales will increase every year unless Samsung makes changes. Too many of my Samsung devices had issues that made using them horrible.

You need to add to that all the Fold 3 sales as well, since it competes with S22 for the "s pen fans" market. Oh, and Note 20 sales as well, since it is still being sold all over the world and, too, competes for the same market.

I'm not saying everybody loves and needs s pen. I know I cannot live without it and if somebody else agree or disagree doesn't matter much to me, frankly. But to make your assumption I think some more numbers are needed.

That said... Yes, iPhone is the best selling single smartphone line in the world. Deserved, o have to say. Indeed, my two iPhones agree with that, as my Fold 3, too

It seems to be getting worse and worse every year and now they can’t even sell more than 4.4 million units of their flagship in three months.

It’s getting pretty bad that some of the leakers are speculating an exit from the smartphone market. I guess killing the note line really ticked off some of their most loyal customers.

I sincerely doubt it. Because of sales.

However even with the fold 3, note 20, and s22 ultra combined, it’s still an extremely tiny number well below 10 million units over the last 3 years. Not mention Samsung is significantly cutting production for the rest of 2022.

Honestly at this point it wouldn’t be fair to make comparisons to iPhones anymore. It’s a different scale entirely, especially if you account the volume of sales at its premium price point.

On one of the last couple iMore podcasts it was brought up that with the way Apple adopts features that it’s almost like Apple treats Android like it’s Apple’s beta program. They see what works and what doesn’t and then implements it better.

Definitely made me a convert.

I disagree with their opinions. Android stole most of their Ux from Mac OS X, even those little stationary icons on the menu bar.

Most of the features apple keeps adding has been on Mac OS long before android.

Widgets, gestures, pip, app drawer, multitasking animation (Cover Flow) were all on Mac OS X and added to iOS.

Even the new widgets on the Lock Screen and animations to set it up were taken directly from the Apple Watch.

They see what works and what doesn’t and then implements it better.

Definitely made me a convert.

As long as you enjoy the apple experience.

Going on over a month and only miss the speed of my s21 otherwise all is great with my 13 mini!!

Was always an Android user but I had an iPhone 12 Pro for about a year. Gave it to my son when his X started having digitizer issues. I couldn't get an iPhone anywhere at the time (2-3 week wait, December 2021) so I ordered an unlocked S21 directly from Samsung.

I didn't realize how much I missed the ability to schedule a text (my wife uses me as her reminder system).

For the past 10 days I've had nothing but trouble with S21; microphone not working, cannot end calls, have to reboot to exit out of some apps. It's been very frustrating.

I'm picking up a 13 Pro this evening. I'll miss the speed and the ability to schedule texts. But I need a phone that works and the Galaxy line hasn't been that for my last couple of phones.

I went from the s21 to the 13 pro and couldn’t be happier good luck with yours.

I went from the Nexus 6 to the 7S+ several years ago and after a short adjustment it’s been all good. Now it’s a home full of Apple devices: iPhones, iPads, Apple TV’s, MacBook Pro’s, Mac Mini, Home Pod, Apple Watches and AirPod Pro’s.

You should definitely change from 7S+ too!
