Airpods not maintaining connection to iPhone 7+

I’ve had my Airpods since December, one of the lucky few who snuck an order through when they were announced.

Anyone else experiencing the following issue?

- Listening from my iPhone to my Airpods, no problem
- Take Airpods out of ears for 1 minute
- Put Airpods back in, and the phone doesn’t pick-up Airpods automatically, I then need to change the audio destination of my iPhone back to Airpods to continue listening

Doesn’t happen all the time, but enough to be annoying. I’ve tried re-setting the Airpods and re-pairing without any change.

Thanks for the reply @Just_Me_D, clean install of iOS 10 on my iPhone, however what it could be something to do with the iOS 11 beta iPad that I do pair it with. I’ve decided to take the plunge and go iOS 11 beta 3 on my iPhone 7+ so will see if anything improves.

Yes they are running the latest firmware 3.7.2, but great suggestion.

I have been running into this issue on my MBP. During FaceTime calls, the left earbud will begin to go in and out. Sometimes the the other person and myself can her a noise sounding similar to cooking popcorn then the audio will cut out and no longer can hear each other.

This was also happening with my AirPods. I did a "forget device"...REBOOT...re-pair and all is well now.

This is the first thing to try. If you still have issues after this, I'd make a Genius Bar appointment and have them checked out.
