I find Airdrop to be one of the most reliable Apple features (Airplay for example is a bit more buggy for me). The one area I do see touchinesses is Airdropping more than one BIG file. IME, for big videos do one at a time, let it finish, move onto the next. Otherwise IPhone and iPad <-> MBA? I find it very reliable (most reliable being a thumb drive but that is at best inefficient)
