Maybe it’s me, but I don’t see this as a dilemma. Heck, I don’t even see it as an inconvenience. It is what it is and I’m sure at some point Apple will address it.

Rest days are critical. For those of us who have incorporated our App Watch & Data into our fitness regime then this is actually a major issue. If you have a moderate to serious commitment to exercise and don't care about this, you likely use another source or program to track and manage your progress and balance your workouts vs recovery. Or perhaps you don't care at all because you aren't into fitness.
