I am an academic and researcher and am seeking advice from actual owners of the MacBook 2016. I am thinking of purchasing one and the heaviest task I am going to use my MacBook for involves raw data processing in a software called NVivo. The material involves qualitative and quantitative data. According to the maker of the software not much computational raw power is needed. However I rather consult an actual user with relevant experience of using NVivo. Your answer would be much appreciated.

I haven't used the software before but It it is not anything like the power needed to edit hd video then it would certainly do the job.

My advisor is a researcher as well and he uses his macbook 2015 to run some specialized software, and so far he is very satisfied with performance, so I'd say you'll be fine with the 2016 macbook.
