As the title says, I'm new to Apple........last Apple I had was an Apple IIsi. I'm planning on getting an iPad 2 (and ditching my BB Tour eventually for an iPhone 4S) and I was wondering what (if anything) does iOS 5 bring to the iPad 2 that it couldn't do before? Sorry if this has been hashed and rehashed I just couldn't really find any clear cut explanation for the iPad specifically.

I'm surprised no one mentioned it, but as the genie in Alladin says after the lamp is rubbed "Free! I'm finally free!!" With iOS 5, you no longer have to have a home computer to run an iPad. It can be set-up independently, and future updates can be done solo rather than tethering to a pc or Mac.

A friend of mine has dithered, moaned and groused about this requirement since his PC is so old it has all the processing power of an Etch-a-Sketch, meaning it couldn't run iTunes (I think he's still running Windows 98). He'll come up with some other reason now, though.
