Adding a new mailbox in iOS 9.3.x

I need to add a new mailbox in iOS 9.3.x. I have tried several times to add the new mailbox on main mailbox screen but I keep receiving an error stating " Can't add new mail box on Verizon."

I'm using the add mailbox option at the bottom of the mailbox edit screen. I can add a new mailbox if I use the pre-named mailbox titles but I want to use a custom name. I can type the name in but when I hit the save button I receive the error message.

You may need to create the mail folder from your mail provider's own site.

Is this Verizon email? Maybe they don't allow it in the stock iPhone mail app. Try as suggested above. I use Gmail, Outlook, Comcast, and iCloud. I can create a new mailbox folder in them all.
