About iphone at&t carrier

I would to know about at&t carrier... If I will but iphone with at&t carrier it can be work an other countries or not ? Please help. It gifts for my mother

If you buy an iPhone that is locked to AT&T's network, you typically have to get it unlocked in order to use it on a different GSM network. If the device is already unlocked then you're good to go as long as you'll be using it on a GSM network.

If you paid retail through Apple, it's unlocked. If you bought it via Att or bought it on the Next plan it's locked to Att only and would have to get Att to maybe unlock it.
