About Facebook app

So me and my friend both have iPhone 6 and 8.4 installed. For some reason he has material designed version of the app where u have the old style. Tried to check for updates but the app was up to date.
Any suggestions on this?

If you have the latest version of the app installed, then your best option is to reach out to Facebook support.
