iMore Question

My son received a message to say a new device had accessed his Gmail account. The device had the same IP as our Mac and the location was the town where my ex lives. Any ideas what is going on here please?

That typically means that someone logged into that particular Gmail account from a different device. It could have easily been your son if he used a friend’s device, a school device or a device that he restored as new or has reset. It does not necessarily mean anything nefarious took place.

Welcome to iMore! Probably a good idea to sign up for membership so we can ask you some more questions and you can answer. Is it possible he was visiting Mom, or another family member was perhaps with a device of his? iPad, iPhone, iPod touch?
