A little dilemma: 13" MBP retina or the 13" MBA?

So I've been using a MBP/IPad combo for several years now and more and more I've noticed that I use my laptop less and less but unfortunately it is still a necessity. My iPad I use almost exclusively for reading and watching movies. While most of my browsing I use my phone.

What I'm looking to do here is drop my MBP and iPad and get a kindle paper white for the sole purpose of reading (which I do a lot of) and a more portable laptop than my 15" MBP for consumption.

So what I'm considering is the 13" MBP retina or the 13" MBA.

My wife has the MBA and absolutely loves it, it's extremely portable and does everything she needs it to. On the other hand since I do like watching movies and stuff I'm considering the the MBPr. The weight and height difference seem negligible but the price is slightly different. Also in that price difference you get more processing power with the MBP but less storage for $100 more.

What do you guys think? Anyone in a similar situation where they "downsized" or found that the tablet niche wasn't completely for them? Thanks!

yea, I think I'm leaning more towards the MBA as with classes and writing I feel as though the portability will be more important than the actual display. I also am considering the 11" option as well. Thanks for the reply

Since there isn't much if a price gap anymore, wouldn't getting the RMBP be better for the better screen? Battery life is pretty comparable now , no ?

I have a 15" MBP that I love because of all the upgrades but for portability I had to go with the 11" MBA. I use the MBP when I'm home but I carry the MBA everywhere. At 11" its extremely light & fits in pretty much any bag I carry plus watching movies on it is great because it has a 16:9 ratio.

Yea my wife has the 11" air. I think I'm going to go with the MBA, now it's a question of 11 or 13" lol...gotta hand it to apple for making such great products the battle is internal
