8GB iPod Touch 4th Gen...iOS 5 Upgrade, now no memory capacity

Hi,

last night I upgraded to iOS 5, and the update has maxed out my memory capacity. In iTunes, the capacity box has a statement: "Over capacity by 1.34 GB"; here is what the graph shows:
2.5 GB Audio
0.15 GB Photos
1.82 GB Apps
0.15 GB Books
3.1 GB "Other"

What is the 3.1 GB listed under "Other", is it the update unzipped? Will I now only have just shy of 5 GB available, which doesn't hold a lot. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can offer...
