3GS iPhone SIM card in 2G iPhone

I have a iPhone 3GS. I am selling it tomorrow. I also have a 2G iPhone. The SIM cards are identical. I swapped the SIM cards so that I can use 2G iPhone until next generation iPhone comes out this summer. However, iTunes wants me to activate 2G iPhone as if it were new. Will this work? Will I be charged by AT&T? I thought swapping the SIM cards would work flawlessly.

Please help?

It will change nothing but save u $10 on ur data plan. If the 2G isn't activated then u need to activate it with a valid sim and you're good to go

It's a valid SIM. ITunes asks for my phone #, verifies my account with zip code and last 4 of SS#, asks me to pick data and sms plans. Sound ok? Will change in plan affect eligibility for upgrade later?

No it won't effect any upgrades because you haven't purchased a new phone from at&t so your set. Go ahead and use the 2g iphone.

Do you miss the speed of the 3GS? ... The older 2G would drive me nuts with the slower speed.
