16.4-16.4.1 broke respond feature for Whatsapp

I have become dependent, on long drives, on having Carplay read and respond to messages. Overall it accurately interprets my dicatations.
Since upgrading to 16.4 replying to WhatsApp messages consistently produces “an error has occurred”.
Apple blames WhatsApp and won't respond although I am pretty sure the issue is the new OS.
Has anyone found a workaround?

If Apple “won’t respond”, how did you determine they blame WhatsApp for the issue you’re experiencing?

Have you reached out to WhatsApp Support for a possible remedy? Is there an awaiting update for the WhatsApp app that could possibly resolve the issue?

Sorry. I wasn't clear. Apple responded and blamed WhatsApp. It is WhatsApp who won’t respond.

I found a lengthy thread in Apple's Support Communities, and you are not alone! I realize that this isn't much of a comfort. I would just continue contacting them... you might look for a live chat, and if all that fails, contact the parent company, which is Meta.
