Opener at Safeco tonight with Paxton on the mound. We already swept the Halos in Aneheim...should be a good one! I'm off for once too...shame that Safeco is 2,000 miles away!

Watching Orioles and the Yanks now. Still kind of wishing we could have grabbed Nelson Cruz. Not to sure Corey Hart is ready for the Bigs again just yet.

Oh well...Braves got their teeth kicked in (by the Mets...go figure), but it was a pretty awesome experience with the whole Hank Aaron ceremony...almost made up for the complete and total lack of offense (which is becoming very worrisome, even if it's early)...here's a few pics, I'll upload a few more tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics Sean. As far as I'm concerned Hank Aaron is still the home run king.

I heard, new parks are nice, but, IMO I think you just loose so much history. Leaving these old parks behind.

Eh...some of the parks (Fenway for example) truly have monumental history...Turner Field really doesn't. Sure, it housed the 1996 Olympics, but other than that, it's not even 20 years old, and it's in a REALLY ****ty part of Atlanta. There's nothing around it, visitors have to travel back into the city to do really ANYTHING after games, and the new locations is safer, more visitor friendly and to be totally honest, a more "fun" part of town. I don't like the fact that we won't have an awesome view of the A-town anymore from the seats, but I'll take the walking friendly surroundings of the Cobb location any day of the week. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to hang out with my buddies after a game only to end up driving home because everybody just took off due to traffic and no local places to hang out.

I hear what your saying, one of the best things about going to Fenway, is that there is just so much around it to do after the game. And with in walking distance. So we don't really have a problem with traffic (parking stinks), we just use the T which adds to the night.

I've been to Fenway a few times...I loved it each time (except the cost of tickets...jeebus, lol!). Turner Field has NOTHING like that around it...there's a cheesy BBQ place outside of it, and a little ratty gas station about a block away. And that's it. It's really quite pathetic, and I think it's one reason why our tailgating movement has grown so enormous...tailgating at Turner Field is an event in itself. And people are usually so cool with it...food is shared, corn hole games become really REALLY competitive, lol! I'd say the tailgating experience is definitely almost as fun as the game experience itself...and there's ALWAYS blues players and local artists playing music all up and down the parking areas so you're never more than 10-15 feet away from some good tunes.

Man, I love tailgating, can't do very much of that at Fenway, have to wait for Guilette for that. And it so true about ticket prices. Amazes me how it's constantly sold out. New englanders we love are sports.

I think me and my brother paid $175/ticket when we went and saw the Braves/Sox game a few years ago up there...nice seats, but jeez. I just bought our tickets for the Braves/Sox game at Turner Field on memorial day, and I spent $70/ticket for club level seats with unlimited food and beer as well. Kind of shows the staggering difference between the two ball parks. I can go to a random division game on a weekend and spend $25 and have a nice seat...

Falcons tickets, on the other hand, are very similar to what you experience. Last year, to see the Pats/Falcons game in the nose bleeds, I think we got them for $200/ticket in a pre-sale list.

Because I'm bored to death of NFL football, lol. (end disgruntled Falcons fan whining)

We start the new season/thread with...

- A-Rod banned for season (hopefully forever, lol)
- Instant replay comes to our beloved game, forever questioning the umps (thankfully?)
- Yankees use their infinitely large budget to buy every damn player (or move their big players) while other teams try to figure out how to survive...go figure.

...GO BRAVES!!!
Sean I am the first to say I am not a big gamer but I figured WTF I might as well go for it and glad I did. Just finished with playing it for about an hour and it is pretty solid, Thought you might like to know about it. So far So good!
