Well, I don't really know for sure. I checked the flights between Louisville and Seattle-Boeing. This flight is the only one that's contemporaneous with the UPS notice. It's a best guess.

I received my email from Apple at 0608 PDT this morning. The scheduled delivery still says "Friday, 09/21/2012, by 3:00 P.M. (by end of day for residential deliveries)".
My package is in Louisville, but that's not a worry. I routinely receive items "next day" from New York to Seattle. UPS...
UPS shows my 32 GB black iPhone from Verizon sitting in Nashville at 2245 CDT on Monday night. It was ordered from apple.com at 0023 PDT on Friday morning. Apple still shows preparing for shipment.
Maybe my phone will get a chance to see Little Jimmy Dickens at the Grand Ole Opry tonight...

Personally, I hope that they don't start the ordering window in the middle of the night. In addition to making it hard on customers, they would have to have their staff available in case something goes bump in the ordering process. What would be fun would be for Tim to hold up...
I live in an apartment. There is no access to the residential areas for delivery drivers. My packages are signed by the building mailroom. Is the iPhone a special case where I personally have to sign, or will the building signature be sufficient?
