Pokemon go on iPad mini

My son is wanting to play along with the rest of the world on Pokemon go, he has downloaded the app on his iPad mini but is unable to play along as keeps getting a message saying gps not found, any ideas please?

If it's a wifi only iPad, those don't have GPS receivers in them. Need to have an external GPS receiver...

You'll need something to provide data as well, at least if you're out and about. A cell phone tethered to it would work, as well as provide data.
