Gps won't stay connected during Pokemon game

Gps goes on and off when playing Pokemon even when I haven't moved from my house. Is there a way to get it to work without losing everything I already have set up in my iPad?

GPS has never worked well inside! It requires line of sight with the GPS satellites that are in orbit in order to do it's job properly, so being outside is MUCH MUCH better. Try going outside to find your pokemon, to your local park and try to find "pokemon stops" is that what they call them? As you are out and about in your neighborhood.
