So Facebook is buying Instagram for a cool $1 billion. Are you keeping your account?

Do you care if Facebook owns Instagram? If you do, what will you switch to?

I don?t have a problem with facebook? I use it everyday, but I am still ticked off by this. I absolutely hate the whole facebook integration thing and i dont want to have every single thing i use online controlled by a ?Big Brother?. Someone needs to stop that company from its internet monopolizing plans.

So, whether i will be closing off my account or not depends on what changes facebook might/will be doing to it. including mandatory facebook account integration. if that happens i'm out the door.

if nothing changes in the way instagram functions then i'll be an ok camper (not particularly happy but not that upset either)

Negative. Even if Facebook was not such a dangerous neighborhood, I cannot imagine doing business with someone like Zuckerberg.

Facebook it the epitome of "big data." Big data understands that the greater the integration of data, from the more different sources, the greater its monetary value and the easier it is to sell it. Whatever Facebook might say in the short run, in the long run they are going to integrate. Unlike other big data firms, they are in the business of selling personally identified information.

My fifteen year-old asserts that he "has nothing to hide" but even he stays away from Facebook.

i would like instagram to be more social. sometimes i wanna be friends with other instagrammers, but instagram [the app] doesn't even have a messaging system!

i'm sure its not as scary as it seems. [like when Disney acquired Marvel] people just hate change.

Might not be too scary in other hands. Zuckerberg's business model is to make money by selling your associations. Even that might not be too bad, except that you are only 4.7, not six as you might well believe, people, associations, away from Kevin Bacon, a terrorist, a pornographer, a rogue hacker. or name-your-own villain.

The effect of this is to put you in the position of having to prove your innocence, to live down your associations, to show that your "association" is mere coincidence. Lot's of luck.

Holy paranoia, people. Even if you're eventually required to have a Facebook account to use Instagram?and right now you aren't?you certainly aren't being forced to upload every last detail of your private lives. All I'm seeing so far are the typical, reactionary, outcries that follow any relatively large piece of news about Facebook.

I don't really care. Not much of an instagrammer? Myself. I'll upload a shot or two every now and then, but making me crop my shots really pisses me off and changes you can make to any picture is minimal.
I'd rather take a shot edit it with snapseed and upload it to my blog, twitter, and Facebook.

You can send messages to users via statigram (pain I know, but it's a start).
