Is it normal that the apple on the screen has become small?

Please help with Yosemite

How can i enlarge the start-up screen, and the login screen? I can hardly see the box where i have to login. The apple on the start-up screen has become very small. Is this normal?

It looks like your computer thinks it has a retina display when it really doesn't. This can be corrected in System Preferences by changing the resolution.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here are my settings: 1152x720 resolution scaled. Brightness on automatic. Mirroring options are checked on.
