Has anyone gotten airdrop to work between their iOS 8 device and their yosemite pb6 macbook? I have a late 2011 mbp and cannot get any connection or option to airdrop to my iPhone 6plus

Just tested successfully between iPhone6 running 8.1b2 and Yosemite RC3

could it be because I am running a mbp that is late 2011?
