Raising volume of TV shows downloaded by iTunes

On my iMac, I have noticed that at least one TV show that I downloaded from iTunes is playing at a volume that is quite below the maximum volume abilities of my iMac. I tried to raise the volume of this show by using the graphic equalizer, but apparently iTunes doesn't recognize graphic equalizer settings while playing TV shows. I have the volume slider on iTunes set to the max, the output volume slider at System Settings > Sound set to the max. Is there any add-on program or other trick app that might raise the output volume of a TV show playing on iTunes?

Hmmm, I can't think of anything at this time. Sorry. By the way, are you still having a problem with this?

I stuck it out through those troublesome seasons, the latter seasons don't seem to have this issue. Thank you :)

Is it a codec thing? To do with how the files were encoded, and the hardware they're played back on? I know my Roku has an option to detect volume and adjust automatically to a baseline standard.
