Auto-detect language??

I have an issue with my typing... I speak both Dutch (my native) as well as English.
But I noticed that when on Facebook messenger (for example), and I type in Dutch, the system very often changes the words to English automatically.

- Is it possible to have macOS auto-detect whether I'm typing in Dutch or English??
(it works very smooth throughout Office Word, so apparently it can be done)

Last I heard, this was a requested feature. Sadly, I only speak English.

You can try switching to a Dutch keyboard from the menubar. That might work, but I do not know for certain.

That said, I have run into this problem in English, where it thinks I am typing another word. I figured out a work around. Whenever this happens, I add the word and a keyboard auto complete from the settings. I might take the first 3-5 letters of the word so that it suggests it.

Settings > Keyboard > Text (on macOS)

This comes in handy with names from other languages. Eventually you end up with a system tailored to you. (Plus, it's a good way to never accidentally type "thong" instead of "thing" again.)
