Add Weather & Other Dashboard Widgets to the Desktop in Mac OS X | OSXDaily

I am trying to get my widgets back on the desktop but the directions above don't apply to EC. For one thing the Mission Control preferences are different.

I am not good at terminal so I have no idea if the command in the article is valid now.

I don't know. I tried "briefly" to drag and drop a widget onto the desktop but I was unable to. I was actually experimenting for another member who was seeking what you are trying to do. Anyway, in regard to the Terminal common, give it a try and see if it'll work. I doubt it'll cause a problem if it doesn't work.

Go to System Preferences -> Mission Control. In the top half of the window you'll see 'Dashboard' with a dropdown list. Choose 'As Overlay' and you'll get the Dashboard back to display over the Desktop. Pay attention to keyboard shortcut assigned in the bottom half of the window.

Just-I tried the terminal command. Didn't see to do anything.

Ric-I am trying to get the widget moved to the desktop, not just the overlay.
