I'm new to the Mac, and am really enjoying my new iMac, after being a PC for over 20 years. But, as I'm sure happens, I got very comfortable with Outlook, and using it for everything - calendar, contacts, email, todo. Now that I'm going all-in on my apple experience, I'd love something that can do what Outlook on the PC did, sync with Google Apps, so I can have everything I need in one place. I don't love the mail app on Mac, and my Contacts aren't syncing properly with the contacts app, so I'd love to find something.

I know lots of people will say to use the built-in programs, but they just aren't working for me.

So, is there anything that can duplicate what Outlook on the PC did? I feel like I've researched it extensively and have found nothing.

So, I open it up here for thoughts.

Thanks for all of your help, in advance.

Well you can get Outlook for the Mac…I don't know of any other software that combines mail, contacts, calendars, todo, etc in one program.
That being said, what specific problems are you having with the built in programs (besides not being all in one)? If we know the specific problems, maybe someone can help resolve the problem or suggest an alternative app that will solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I am using Outlook for email, but I'd love to be able to incorporate calendar and contacts. It's really about workflow for me. Being able to create a todo from an email or an appointment was easy. I just don't like using 3 different programs, when it seems that I should be able to use one (and it seems that was the case until Mavericks, when Apple removed sync services).

Although, I can't seem to get Contact to sync properly. Lots of contacts are missing. I sync with Google Apps for business.

If your calendar and other Outlook information is synced to an Outlook.com account, you can configure your Mac for the Outlook.com account and have all of that stuff synced to it.

Thanks. As of now, it's all Google. I'm not sure about the time and expense of moving to Office and Exchange. I feel like this should be possible today.

If you have a paid goggle apps account then you should be able to set that up using Exchange. Free google accounts can't do this though.

That's what I thought, too, but I can't seem to do that. I think I need some more investigating on my part. Thanks!

I've tried to set it up as an Exchange account. I think that only applied to iOS devices, not Macs. Google does not provide any settings to set it up as an exchange account in Outlook.

And, I've just confirmed with Google that it isn't possible. It is only mobile that can be set up as an Exchange account.
