So, I've recently upgraded my Mac mini with a 250GB ssd and I'm wanting to move my Documents and Movies folders to my secondary internal HDD. I've seen several posts on how to move my entire home folder but I'm not wanting to move my music and downloads folder because I access them a lot more frequently and I don't want to lose the speed increase from the ssd. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's the same procedure as moving the entire home folder. You create a symlimk in the old location to the new one.

That's cool, I was reading you didn't have to create symlinks anymore you can just change the home folder location under users in settings but there is no way to do only single folders. but I think for what I need the symlinks are probably my only option. Thanks for the help!

Create another admin user account first. Then log in as that new admin user and move the folders and create the symlinks. Then log back in as the first user.

Why will I need to create another account? I know it's good to do that if I'm relocating my home folder but since I'm just using symlinks what is the purpose of the second account?

Just so you're not moving folders around on the account your logged in with. Probably not a big deal if you don't have any other apps open that might be using the folders you're about to move. But good practice anyway.
