    Hi everyone
I need some help with this problem.

I'm a relatively new Mac user, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

So basically my disk utility is showing the incorrect amount of free storage on Macintosh HD (16mb, when in fact there is should be 175gb available)

I have no problems downloading any new files, photos etc. But when i try to partition the drive, it says there is not enough free space to do so.

So I would just like to know, how can I fix this?

I'm using a Macbook Air 13" 2013 Model, with all the latest software updates installed

Attached are images of the problem

Try the following. Hopefully, it will help.

    1. Empty the trash bin.
    2. Install any OS X updates.
    3. Reboot your computer and see if the amount corrects itself.

    Thank for that

It appears that disabling FileVault solved the issue for me.
