If you bought a Retina MBP and used either a corporate or educational discount, you may be entitled to a refund from Apple.

The original rMBP came in two flavors - a base model and a higher spec'ed model. At launch time, only the higher spec'ed model was configurable. Last week Apple announced a new configurable base model, as well, so now both rMBP options are customizable.

And it turns out that, if you used a corporate or educational discount, it's cheaper to upgrade the base model to the same spec as the configured high end model to get to the same machine... and Apple is refunding the price difference...

In my case, the difference was $60 plus tax ...

Apple has since fixed the issue so that the same configuration costs the same, regardless of which machine you start with... but if you bought one within the first 2 months or so, call Apple and have them look into it... my gift card is on the way...
