can't play videos in safari 5.1

I bought a new macbook air yesterday and I cannot play videos on youtube? why? it says something about upgrading flash player but do not want to do that unless it is necessary. I did see something about right clicking on the video and opting out of Html 5????

anyone else have this issue and what was the fix?

I'm currently doing a clean install of osx lion on my air. While poking around in system files I found that my permissions weren't correct and some files were duplicates or missing. I think by restoring from my ancient back up my have caused some issues.

It's interesting to reinstall osx on a computer with no drive and no install disk. It's all done via the Internet!

Ok new osx lion reinstalled on a clean hard drive. No change still cannot play videos in safari. Shouldn't have lion come with the latest flash??? I am confused???

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to restore sucessfully and find a way to extract my music and photos from my old DVD back up disk and. Place them on my new computer. This site rocks!
