How to show VLC video thumbnails on El Capitan?

Hi,

I'm new to Mac, so forgive my foolishness.

I just installed VLC on El Capitan, it works fine by playing most of my old videos shot on Canon cam (mp4).
But finding the video I want is a pain since VLC (or is it El Capitan?) doesn't show the thumbnails, so I have to play each video to see what is it about. Is there a way to make it shows thumbnail on El Capitan?
