El Cap Install Probs....

Newbie to the forum here
Trying to install El Cap on my one year on iMac and it stays in a loop about three quarters of the way thru the install. It bails out to a black screen on the left side of the monitor with white text then goes to a white screen that says computer will restart and stays in that loop.
If I do cmd L if get the following
Language Chooser TSplicedFontFailedCreatingDescriptorFor{}

I tried downloading in safe mode
Tried clearing the Pram
Have very few apps but tried deleting all my apps then downloading
Tried booting into restore and then install new operating system in which it tried installing El Cap and just stuck for hours and hours
Tried running the drive utility

Ended up just restoring off time machine.
Anyone got ANY ideas to keep me from going to the Apple store????

Since you've got a backup via Time Machine, I recommend you do a clean install of El Capitan.
