My boss (also a doctor) wants to sell his iPad 1 so he can buy the 3. He plans to bring it in Monday so I can look at it. I wanted to get advice on what a fair price would be.

He said the back has some scratches on it but the screen is perfect. Considering it is used and nearly 2 years old what are they typically selling. He said he didn't know what to ask for it so I said I'd do some research and then we could talk on Monday. So what does everyone think? Any advice is appreciated!

    $175 is fair.

Thanks, that was my thoughts exactly. I figured $150-$175 depending on how 'broken in' it happens to be.

wow I was about to buy one for 350!! rip off hehe thanks for the info. I find that used apple products are not as cheap as you would think...

Is there a big performance difference between ipad1 and ipad2?

Don't know exact specs but there is a noticeable difference in speed IMO.

It depends... what's the storage capacity? 16GB, 32GB, 64GB? WiFi only? or WiFi + 3G? You have to know what you're getting... then check eBay for SOLD devices, NOT currently running auctions...

Ya 175 might be for for a 16 wifi only I would say for that with scratches on back is fair but if it's more storage and had 3G then it's worth more than that

I have an ipad1 and went to Verizon and plugged in the info of my ipad and they would buy it back froim for 185.00. My ipad is 64G 3G. My ipad has no scratches and is in very pristine condition.
    Just for your info.

You have to realize that taking it back to Verizon (or Apple or an online buyer like Gazelle) is kind of like taking your car to a dealer and getting their trade in price... you should be able, in both cases, to get a bit more from a private buyer... but it will get you on the low end of the ball park...

Depending on the GB but $150-$175 seems fair, and to think it was just last year that I got my grandma one for $300. Sigh

I'm selling my ATT 16 iPad 1 for 300. It's worth what someone is willing to pay, and I have someone willing to pay.
