Printing from iPad?

Your iPad can detect wireless printer by it self no app needed if you have a older printer like non wireless and it's hooked to a computer you can share it on your network but also need to install a app called air print activator it runs it the background and worked flawless for me with a laser printer I had

Can a wireless printer that's AirPrint compatible be setup and print from an iPad 2 without a PC?

I would say, that's the point of being an AirPrint enabled printer.

I use the Epson iPrint app with my new Epson printer and it is fantastic. It prints any web page, any docs on my iPad, photos on my iPad and will even print things from cloud storage like Dropbox.

Another really cool thing the app does is wirelessly scan from the All in one printer directly to my iPad. Very cool!

Did the AirPrint service change with iOS 5? I was using this method for my non-HP printers and everything was working fine: How to Install AirPrint to Enable Wireless Printing on Windows? | Jaxov . After installing iOS 5 on my iPad 1, the printers are no longer listed in Safari.
