    Hi!

I have just installed the updated 4.2 GMb and the wifi issues are still present. It's just as bad as the first GM. Rolling back to 3.2.2 which work flawlessly.

What's your experience? has the new GM fixed wifi issues, has it not, or you didn't ever had the issue in the first place?

Apple need to rethink the design of the iPad. The current design has the antenna as the Apple logo. Perhaps thats the problem.

Yeah but that's hardly this exact problem. The same iPad with 3.2.2 has no Wifi issues.

And the placement of Wifi antenna under the Apple logo makes sense. This way, antenna is placed the same regardless how you hold it.

Well 3.2 had thw wifi issues before they needed a fix, and that was 3.2.1.

and its not under the apple logo. It IS the apple logo.

I updated and now get booted from wifi quite often. I out it in airline mode and back off to get wifi back. Anyone have a hack to fix it?

Exact same behavior on a new iPod. I returned it. I'll wait for the iPad fix. Well worth the wait.

Yep, stickiing to 3.2.2 for time being. Wifi is far more important for me (having Wifi-only model than multitasking. Too bad there's no way of knowing if they fixed it other than re-installing again.

Definitely had WiFi issues (both home and work, both Linksys 54G access points) with GM1. GM2 fixed it, and WiFi works great both home and at work. I had to reset the iPad a few times a day, constantly powercycle WiFi. Seamless now.

So, my iPad with 4.2.1 GM STILL doesn't reconnect WiFi after longer periods of inactivity. My router is fine, old iPhone 3G has no problems with connection.

Back to 3.2.2 and pissed as hell.

The genius at the store suggested i restore as new (not from backup) in hopes that some old library or setting is conflicting. Sounded like a good idea but it didnt work and i lost my saved games.

Tried to limit the wifi type to only type N. Didn't work. Tried to use anything but N didn't work. Very sad. It stinks when you know it can work (like before the update) but it doesn't.

Actually I think I noticed it when using the iPad on campus yesterday, but I'm not too sure. I have the 3G iPad, so I get data coming through anyway. But it'll prompt me to enter my student I'd and password at the wifi proxy login page thing or whatever, and the wifi icon won't even be displayed in the top right corner.

I just got my iPad a few days ago and this is the first I've ever heard of the iPad being less than perfect at anything it does :P
