Can I read old Ipad messages after the icloud account has been logged out?

Is it possible to have already logged out and disconnected iPad messages from being sent to the iPad and still read the old messages? I can see that the messages are still there but the login box won't disappear for me to read the messages again.

You would have to re login to access them it seems

The messages will stay on the iPod unless you reset the device and Erase all Content (Settings/General/Reset). While I'm not aware of a way to view the messages, if you are getting rid of the iPad or transferring it to a new user, I'd use the reset to erase the current content to be safe.

Correct me if I am wrong, though I think if you have another iOS device or a Mac computer, you can log into iMessages with the same Apple ID used and read your iMessages, if that helps.
