It seems sporadic on the mini.

Can I increase speed with a better modem, if so which one.

A while ago there was thread that explained how to increase wifi performance. I made the changes on my old device and it seemed to work better.

I do not recall the changes I made. I tried to find the thread but couldn't

Does anyone recall.

You could try diff wireless channel or see what wireless security it uses ... Is in use wireless n or g ?

Or you could bridge it to your own router

Might help with the up and down but no matter what you do it won't get past what you pay for because Verizon has you capped

Yea I have have no clue on distance but I did get advertised speeds. But I am paying the same price with comcast. No sure y the mini is so much slower. Yea I don't have Netflix. Crap quality and AFAIK their content has no surround sound.

This is why I don't really trust speed test.

I pay for 10 and sometimes I get 13. But usually get 2 down.

I set the modem to G only.

I will try my lynksys tomorrow.

From what you are saying in your posts, the modem is fine bc you get consistent speeds on the MacBook. You need to look into the router and settings.

Provider speeds are not a guaranteed speed. It depends on network congestion, etc. If they are saying 15/2 and you are getting 9/1 that is pretty normal.
