If I download Netflix on my iPhone, can I connect it to my tv and watch movies?

You'll need to connect it via HDMi and Apple's lightning cable adapter...understand that there is a slight lag in picture/sound when you do this, so it is not an optimal choice.

My advice would be to spend $69 and buy an Apple TV...which has a Netflix app natively on it. You won't get resolution degradation this way, and you won't get any lag at all since it's playing directly on the Apple TV itself. That or choose one of the other hundreds of devices that have Netflix built into them...most blu-ray players, video game consoles, streaming devices for tv's, etc etc etc. The benefit of the Apple TV would be using it in conjunction with your iPhone for various things...but there are many other cheaper ways to get Netflix.

Apple TV is by far the easiest route to take. I love mine.

And if you're looking to spend less you can always get a Chromecast for $35 and just stream Netflix from your phone to TV like that.
