I think they don't have to update their logo.
It's an concise and high definition bitten apple and it's the same logo since ever I think that's good.

They have updated it four times in their history no? That's enough for one company in my opinion. So no, I don't think they need to.

The first one looks like something from the Middle Ages.

"In year 1457 Apple won a fight against Microsoft. A Dark Age began."
..

I think changing it to a bitten apple and never changing it again was the best decision they've ever made.
I like the design. I'd just change the colour. I'd like this type of logo.

My question would be a defined "Why change it?"

For what purpose would the change serve? What factor lead up to the belief that a change was needed?

So far, the success Apple has found with their products tells me two things...

1.) They are not in any situation where something like a logo change/refresh would be a necessity.
2.) They have such a visually impactful logo that a change to it MIGHT be detrimental to their success in some way.

...it's kind of like Ford and Chevy. Have they done polishing to their logos? Very slightly...but over many decades of success. Right now, Apple doesn't need to change a thing.

I can see refining it. Just don't see a need for full revamping. It's the logo that people see and establish brand recognition. Change that and you'll lose recognition...

Apple I believe forbids the use of there logo on 3 party accessories so it means a lot to them

I think a change is not needed
