I'm speaking for the majority of people. I don't think that many people are photo, movie storer junkies. And plus music doesn't take too much space for 1000 songs. I'm only at 8 gigs I think

When did you get appointed "speaker" :D

You speak for yourself.

A movie buff that wants to rip their own DVDs to hard drive storage would appreciate the storage space. And I'm guessing Seagate will be working to fill what they see as a need they can profit from filling. So, don't buy one if you don't want one... your lack of desire for one isn't a permit to declare them "useless"

I carry a 1TB in my purse, and I don't believe I have much "entertainment" on there. Mostly documents, photos, and music. I'm not sure how anyone gets by with less these days.

Imagine in a few years when crystals are used for storage, you could probably get 4 TB on a thumbdrive.

I have a 2TB HD that I bought on sale at BB for $89 a few weeks back. Thats plenty for me. I have about 150GB's loaded on mine. I am thinking I would have been fine with a 1TB

I completely disagree with you.

You are still approaching it from a stance that YOU experience (or need)...do you know anyone that works in the graphic arts industry or film production/music production industry? Do you have the first clue as to how much storage space raw film footage takes up? lol...my wife has 10 external hard drives in her office full of 2 movies...TWO movies. And my wife works in the independent film industry, she's not even at the big time level yet!

I'd honestly say you're probably the minority in this situation, needing only a trace amount of storage space.

To speak on the hard drive itself though, I'm still not sure why they are charging $225 on amazon for it, when you can get the 2TB hard drive (same model, same everything) for $90/piece.
