    of course it could. But it amazes me that it happened to a 911 call, the most important number out there. Glad to know the lady got help and is doing fine. The storm might have caused the outage, but then again who knows.

    Why in the world is this news!? I've heard HUNDREDS of stories where calls/are dropped or there is no service. It is so common in fact that it is often seen in horror movies as a plot device. If this isn't pure FUD then what is? What's tomorrow's news: Sun comes up in East!

    Its news because its highly ironic given their slogan.

    Its also news because it involves a life and a time that calls shouldn't be getting dropped.

    Read that. The root cause of the problem was with the landline/trunk side of Verizon.

    That said, it was still something stupid that should have not allowed to have happened - and now they know better. Or they (bleep) well should.

    maybe because this actully made it on the news and not "heard" by some one hiding behind a computer screen?
