What are your opinions on Splatoon's headset solution?

Hey, I was just curious to know what are y'alls opinion on the solution to chatting while playing with friends on Splatoon 2?

I don't have Splatoon yet (I'm still severely addicted to ARMS). What I've heard from others is that it is huge pain in the rear. It's too complicated supposedly. Have you tried it? Why does the Switch even need a companion smartphone app for anyway?

The splatoon headset is a bad joke. They couldn't even get the colors right :smh:

That's not official, but the fact that it needed to be made is totally ridiculous. Look at all those wires! It's 2017, there should be zero wires.
