I guesss my issue is a bit different than many here. I have the Verizon iPhone 5 and just for grins I cut down my active AT&T sim card to nano size, powered it up, and lo and behold, I was on AT&T. I didn't have a data plan on that card, but voice calls in and out to the AT&T number worked...

It appears that what Verizon said about the "5" being an International phone was correct. I just cut down my AT&T sim card (still active, but old account) to nano-sim size, popped it into the SIM slot on the Verizon iPhone 5, and up came my AT&T number and all capabiities, including "4G" data...
