What did you have to do exactly after it was in DFU?

Did you need to do anything once the phone was in DFU? How did it roll back to GM, on its own? Did you do anything in iTunes? Currently I'm on Public Beta 9.1. Trying to go back. Wondering if DFU would roll me back to 9.0 without losing data same as you. Thanks in advance.
