    Mini-review: using an iPhone 5 in 2019

It was given to my wife, actually. The faster CPU and better battery life of the SE would suit her best. Haha. Thanks for the questions!

    Mini-review: using an iPhone 5 in 2019

As crazy as it sounds, it is actually quite possible to use an iPhone 5 in 2019. I had to move from an iPhone SE 2018 (128GB) to my spare iPhone 5 2012 (16GB) recently, as the SE found its way to a family friend who needed a replacement phone to replace an Android phone that just died. Apart...

Wouldn't it be great to have a small iPhone with an edge to edge screen like the iPhone X?

Re: How about? If that day comes, I’ll get one to upgrade from this SE!

Apple seems to be removing ‘value’ with the latest iPhones. Even the SE was better value for money.

I guess at least there is a a way for consumers to avoid using Google - and that’s either iOS or using feature phones. Choice is important, and I’d hate to have no choice but to use 1 platform alone. So yeah...

Apple seems to be removing ‘value’ with the latest iPhones. Even the SE was better value for money.

Agreed. Apple is definitely pushing the boundaries in an effort to maximise profits. I’d suggest giving Android another go. It (particularly Oreo & Pie) is now technically superior to iOS, both in stability and security (go for those manufacturers who support the Android One initiative - those...

Apple seems to be removing ‘value’ with the latest iPhones. Even the SE was better value for money.

Apple knows it can get away with charging it’s consumers more for less. That’s the way it has been after subsequent iPhone introductions beyond the SE. It knows it’s consumer base will pay whatever it charges to get something with an Apple logo on it. If you’ve been to Asia and Australia, you’ll...

The iPhone SE has been discontinued..

Hmm, you’ve got a point there. Apple is, and has been, after Steve’s demise, more of a ‘follower’ than an innovator. When the market moved on to larger screen sizes 4 years ago, Apple moved to the larger 6+ sizes. As Samsung, Huawei and other Chinese makes move on to having 5.9” screens as a...

    Upgrade from 11.2.5 to 11.4.1?

No battery issues experienced with 11.4.1 on my SE. I’d say ‘go for it’!

The iPhone X Max 512Gb is $2359 Australian dollars!!

Take the money, buy a laptop and a mid-range Android phone.

    Most underwhelming disappointing release ever

Agreed. Forget the iPhones. Just not worth my hard-earned $$$$.

Apple seems to be removing ‘value’ with the latest iPhones. Even the SE was better value for money.

With the announcement of the 3 new iPhone X models, it seems that the prices of the iPhones just keep going up, with almost no new features/innovations beyond using newer CPUs. The Lightning to 3.5mm dongle has also been removed. Is it just me who thinks it may no longer be worth paying such...

The iPhone SE has been discontinued..

For me, I like the SE form factor, even more so with the Typo keyboard attached. Feels like the BlackBerry of old. The SE still has very capable hardware if one does not value ‘the notch’ and higher-end CPUs offered in the latest iPhones.

The iPhone SE has been discontinued..

I’ll keep mine until it dies! Still a great phone - iOS works well on smaller devices - not so good on larger devices due to Apple’s gesture implementation. It’s also a good music player, with decent output for wired earphones. Definitely a keeper. Should the day come when the phone can no...

How is your SE holding up?

It looks like the SE will be the last small phone Apple offers. With the new iPhones just around the corner, it certainly looks like the SE is truly ‘EOL’ (end of life).

Review of iPhone SE (August 2018)

Thanks for the kind words. Indeed it is a brilliant device and one that really stands out in today’s world of much larger slab phones.
