You can download a free program from the Apple ap store called Pixelpipe. Then download PPVideoEnabler from Cydia. Record a video using Cycorder on your 3G and upload to Facebook, Twitter or a dozen other sites via Pixelpipe. That totally removed my need to upgrade to a 3GS at this point...

Jailbreaking has nothing to do with whether or not the facebook ap works. It has been buggy since day one. The 3.0 update should remedy these issues and make for a better experience.

Nope. Internet creates the convenience while you are out and about. One of the main features done right on the iPhone versus the competition. Any smartphone without a browser or 3g (Blackberry Curve 8900 on AT&T) is worthless.
