After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.
As per my previous posts - after I got rid of all the duplicated "ghost" voice memos that didn't exist, Audible.com books, and corrupted music files > I was able to restore the iPhone 5 from a backup of my 4S without it failing midway through the restore like it did all the other times.
And...
EDIT - As stated in prevois pots, battery life improved from avg of 18% per hour drain to 9% per hour with my fixes to remove some files that weren't syncing properly. But it still wasn't good enough for me, and I still could not do a restore from 4S backup to my 5 without it never finishing and...
Yesterday I was dropping an average of 18% per hour, and today it was only 9% per hour, but that's with very light use. Normally my iPhone 4S only drops about 5-6% per hour. So, I don't think it's completely fixed yet. I'm going to "reset all settings" but not wipe all data, and try again...
Today battery life was terrible. But I just fixed my battery problem - other's with issues may have different problems than mine. Hopefully this will help someone else.
Earlier today (Sunday) I went from 99% at 10AM to 10% by 3PM. That's about 5 hours to drain the battery with light use...
Woo Hoo! Apple store opened up right after I posted about errors, and I got mine and my wife's ordered, but had to do one at a time. It wouldn't let me have two in the cart at one time.
ATT tells me i'm eligible for an upgrade the moment i log in, and shows an iPhone 5, then takes me to a page where I can only order a 4 or 4S...
Apple still says, "We'll be back"
I'm using Westone ES5 custom molded in ear monitors most of the time. The sound quality of these rival my $1,500 - $2,000 full size flagship headphones from Sennheiser, HiFiMan and Stax. These are a great match for my iPhone 4S and the new iPad.
I take my iPhone 4 with me everywhere, but often it's inconvenient to use earphones. And the tiny speaker built into the iPhone 4 is not really sufficient to enjoy music or movies. I could really use one of these to improve the sound quality and the volume, without having to worry about wires.
I like TiPb the most because it has the largest amount of info on new developments in iOS devices. I come back for more because it seems more up to date than when I go to read the CNET or Macrumors blogs. Oh, and the frequent software review updates are nice too.
I'd love to win an iPad 2!
I won't use APTbackup ever again, because after I spent hours restoring 30gb of normal apps and data, it made it all disappear when I restored my JB apps with it. I had 120 apps in 20 folders that I could not see, even though a search told me they were still there. I had to start all over again.
I cant go into exact step by step instructions without missing a step, but iclarified.com should have some tutorials. Since you saved your SHSH blobs on Cydia you should be able to do this using tiny umbrella and pawnage tool.
With tiny umbrella (aka the firmware umbrella) you plug in the...
I can't help you completely other than to advise you to use pwnagetool 4.1 to update without updating your baseband, or you will lose the ability to unlock it. see tipb.com/2010/10/21/jailbreak-ios-41-pwntagetool-4/ My understanding is 4.1 on the iPhone 4 can't be unlocked, but on the 3GS it...
So if we are using a jailbroken iPhone 4 with iOS 4.01 that is unlocked, and want to update to 4.1 while preserving the 1.59 baseband with pwnagetool or tinyumbrella TSS server on, can we still not unlock it with Ultrasn0w after that?
I noticed tonight that the Cydia app has stopped reporting at the top of the screen which blobs it has saved on their server. It used to say SHSH blobs for iOS 4.01, 4.02 saved, or something like that, and now that is not displayed. Same thing for my iPad.
Is this a problem? When did this...
